I was in town for a little over a week. I stayed at the Harbour side Apartments at mcMahons point. During the time I was there I are ate at the North spoon for breakfast 3 times. The French toast not only tasted amazing but was presented beautifully. I also had the smashed avocado twice and it was brilliant. In addition, I
had a side of bacon each time and it was perfectly delicious. My only negative comment was the service wasn't necessarily swift but I found that was the Sydney norm so it really didn't bother
I highly suggest a visit to the North Spoon. I didn't try lunch but I would assume it is delicious as well. Surveying others orders it all looked delicious. -

The North Spoon was a reasonable walk from our North Sydney hotel, so I managed to convince my little group to hoof it there in under 15 minutes.
The single story grey painted brick structure was nice and airy within, and had a few tables set outside.
With brunch on the mind, we hit the breakfast menu hard, by starting with everything off their Brekky Favourites subsection, adding french toast, and an interesting and healthy sounding salad off the lunch menu:
Simply Smashed $19 avocado on toast with pepitas, feta, heirloom tomatoes & poached eggs
Salmon Stack $21 smoked salmon, rosti, halloumi, rainbow chard, avocado, greek yoghurt & poached egg
Corn Fritters $19.50 halloumi, avocado, cherry tomato & poached egg
Gypsy Toast $17 french toast with grilled banana, strawberry couli, maple syrup & fresh berries
Warm Veg Salad $18.90 with beetroot pumpkin, sweet potato, rocket, grapes, black rice salad w/ sumac & vinegar dressing
Turns out that opting for the addition of salmon $7 to our salad was only more smoked salmon. Fortunately, they kindly allowed us to change our mind on that.
We greatly enjoyed our meal here. The surprise favorite dish for two of us was the salad, though I was glad to have had the chance to sample everything that had peeked my interest.
The one item that was less enticing "in person" than in the menu was the frappe Lychee Lust $7.00 lychee, mint & apple juice, which just didn't float my boat. I was glad that I hadn't ordered up one myself, but instead was treated to a taste from my DC's glass. -

The North Spoon
The North Spoon is a new addition to the dining precinct in Milson's Point. When you think of Milson's Point, you associate it with a harbour bridge view. If you're seated outdoors, this doesn't disappoint. There is a turfed garden with picnic tables and a view of the bridge - an extremely pleasant place to enjoy your weekend brunch.
This is a thriving café with plenty of indoor seating and a nice range of brunch choices. It was an extremely cold day so we went for the quinoa porridge with flax seeds, chia, honey and topped with fruit that included fresh strawberries and banana. I really loved this and have been thinking about ever since we visited. Healthy, warm and filled the bellies satisfactorily.
We also tried the salmon hash, which had a lovely crispy hash atop a curry / Indian influenced sauce, greens and topped with salmon and poached eggs. An extremely tasty dish that made you go back for more.
We got a couple of coffees, using the campos bean and complete with latte art. They do serve a range of sweets and breads to take away.
I would recommend paying this place a visit. I know I'll certainly be back as the lamb burger has inspired me for a lunch visit! -

This is a great place for a quality breakfast in North Sydney and McMahons Point. I was in the area for work for a short bit, and needed a place with some quality coffee and food.
The North Spoon did not disappoint. It was nestled in a quiet neighborhood and had a great atmosphere. More importantly, they drew some quality Long Black for coffee that really assuaged my normal grumpy morning self.
Further, the skillet I had, which included a variety of "traditional English breakfast" items, but with a skillet twist, with two poached eggs, sausage, etc. was delicious. A very good breakfast to start the day.
The service was also great, and the price made it all even better.
Next time I'm in North Sydney, I'm definitely going back. -

A casually parked retro bicycle with a basket full of fake blooms marks the entrance to this relative newcomer to McMahons Point. The North Spoon is already popular with locals, and it's easy to see why. It's an airy, light-filled space decked out with a repurposed timber counter and a corrugated iron feature wall. Leafy green plastic pants in hanging plant baskets and wicker rattan chairs add to the rustic farmhouse styling.
Bi-fold windows let in plenty of fresh air and allow diners a front row seat to the pedestrian parade along Blues Point Road. The sky is an impossible shade of blue, and while their winter branches might be devoid of leaves, you can see the impending spring in the buds on the Liquidambar trees.
We settle in with a Campos coffee that arrives slightly burnt in a Flat White ($3.50) and a Go Bananas Smoothie ($7.50). The latter is a healthy blend of bananas, chia seeds, flaxseeds, honey, yoghurt and milk, that isn't over-sweet. The breakfast menu is interesting and diverse enough to make choosing difficult.
We eventually decide upon a Breakfast Skillet ($23) that runs with the venue's rustic farmhouse styling by presenting an abundant mix of breakfast staples in a cast iron pan. Along with the expected bacon and golden-yolked poached eggs, you'll also find a tasty thin-skinned breakfast sausage, excellent blood pudding, grilled tomato and crisp potato rösti, all sitting on a bed of tasty house-made baked beans.
Equally eye-catching, the Brioche Benedict ($21), tames the wickedness of buttery toasted brioche with a light and airy Hollandaise, and the addition of some well-handled vegetables. The oven-roasted tomato, char-grilled asparagus spears and rainbow chard make a nice counterpoint to the dish, which can be topped with your choice of ham, bacon or smoked salmon.
Both breakfasts represent substantial starts to the day, and there's enough left on this breakfast menu to warrant a return visit if I ever find myself in McMahons Point at breakfast time again.
